"The Ultimate Homemade Movie"
"LUMPIA takes you back to the late-90's when tension is at an all-time high in Fogtown High School. James (Francis Custodio) and his misfit pack of friends do their best to stand up to Tyrone (Edward Baon) and his crew of thugs who have invented a new fad of (gulp!) F.O.B. bashing! But only one hero stands in their way... a silent avenger (Carlos Baon) who delivers justice one deep-fried LUMPIA at a time! With James falling for his classmate Kelly (Elizabeth Mendoza), will such a fighter be enough to ward off the one enemy that threatens to obliterate all?"

Now that you've watched the movie, tell us what you think. Post your reaction to the movie, what you thought of the characters, storyline, message, etc. We're not looking for a movie review so no "i thought the editing was done poorly...." just what you thought of the movie. If you have questions, feel free to post those too.

Check out the links and the movie trailer below.

This has nothing to do with Lumpia, BUT it has a Filipino guy speaking Tagalog in an American commercial, whoot! =) (oh, and if you're wondering why you can't understand the tailor it's because he is Thai)

I thought that the movie was interesting and different from what I'm used to seeing. I never really knew about how younger American born Filipinos and Filipinos that just came to the U.S. treated each other back in the 90s. I saw how the Filipino Americans were ashamed of the fobs and how they were really just trying to fit in.

The movie really reflected the interaction of both Fobs and the different generations of Filipinos that have already established themseves in the US. How fobs were treated in some subcultures of the US.

Unfortunately, I was not at class last week and was not able to watch what looks like an AWESOME movie! (Ate Mel, can I borrow your copy??)

From what I saw in the trailer, it looks really funny and even better, like a movie we can probably all relate to in some way. All I have to say is - the next fight I wanna see is the Pacman vs. the Silent Avenger. How will Manny defend himself against a greasy lumpia??? :)

Ate Lora, yes! you can borrow my copy =) it's a good movie but i'm gonna warn you....you might want to have lumpia nearby when you watch because your gonna end up REALLY craving some after =P

the movie is a satire so the AB/PB (American born/Philippine born) conflict is exaggerated but it does a good job explaining the basis of the conflict. we'll talk more about this in class =)

The movie was different, i thought using lumpia as a weapon was pretty cool. The movie to me was something on the lines like except what you are and things like that.

The movie really showed how some people feel about fobs. at my school, i rarely hear the term fob since my school is very diverse.
